Food Waste Treatment Case: How Alibaba Advances ESG with Integrated Composting Solution
In recent years, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) has emerged as a guiding framework for sustainable development among global enterprises. Alibaba confirmed that ESG would be one of the core strategies for its future growth.
In alignment with this vision, Alibaba’s Beijing Chaoyang Technology Park has adopted our Integrated Composting Systemto manage organic waste generated by its 30,000 employees daily. The system, occupying minimal space in the basement waste room, efficiently processes food and Kitchen Waste from the park’s dining facilities.
Key Outcomes of the Project:
- Annual processing of 4,000 tons of food and kitchen waste.
- Production of 400 tons of fermented material, which can be further processed into organic fertilizer, replacing 134 tons of chemical fertilizers.
- Recovery of 164 tons of waste oil annually, which after treatment can substitute 130 tons of petroleum-based fuel.
- Reduction in food waste transport distance by 240,000 km per year, saving 64,800 liters of diesel.
This initiative not only supports Alibaba’s ESG commitments but also demonstrates how compact, efficient Waste Management technology can contribute to circular economy practices, reduce carbon emissions, and promote sustainable operations in large-scale corporate environments.

Integrated Composting Equipment:
Integrated solution of composting organic waste. This equipment integrates crushing, dehydrating, and microbial fermentation functions, reducing 90-95% waste. Aerobic microbial agents are added to the equipment, where the food waste is rapidly composting at high temperatures. The final output can be further processed into organic fertilizers or directly mixed with the soil for use.
