Trade within Asia is expected to remain on an upward trend in 2026, with regional cooperation essential to enhancing resilience, experts say.

On December 31, the Tariff Commission of the State Council issued an announcement on the Customs Tariff of the People's Republic of China (2026), which took effect on January 1, 2026.

On October 23, the "Recommendations of the Communist Party of China Central Committee on Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development" (hereinafter referred to as the "Recommendations") was officially released. New Rare Earth Export Control Measures: Effective December 1, 2025, export licensing requirements will be imposed on "products manufactured overseas but containing China-sourced rare earths or adopting Chinese processes/technologies" (to take effect in phases by product category).
